Shin Woo-jin lived a quiet, unassuming high school life until a ruthless underground crime syndicate murders his family in cold blood and shoots him through the heart. Instead of crossing into the afterlife, Woo-jin discovers the curse woven into his very DNA: the phenomenon of Absolute Resurrection. Every time his mortal life terminates, his body reconstitutes within seconds, repairing fatal wounds and permanently amplifying his physical strength, neural reflexes, and pain tolerance based on the nature of his demise. Realizing that conventional death is merely an evolutionary catalyst, Woo-jin discards all fear of mortal consequence. He dives headfirst into South Korea's violent underworld, hunting down corrupt politicians, syndicate bosses, and superhuman hitmen who orchestrated his family's destruction. In an escalating war where each death only makes him deadlier, the resurrection boy turns mortality into his greatest weapon, demonstrating that you cannot defeat an enemy who grows stronger every time you kill him.

Setting & Geography. The world of Resurrection Boy is set in a modern urban society whose civil surface covers a dark underground network of illicit scientific exploitation. Hidden beneath high schools, abandoned industrial factories, and corporate fronts like Hodan Construction lie covert research complexes. These underground laboratories operate completely outside legal boundaries, subjecting human captives to biological modification and power weaponization. Power System & Hierarchy. Supernatural power stems from biological modifications involving specialized biological cores known as "Hearts." Individuals subjected to or manifesting these implants are classified as Heart Mutants. The strength hierarchy is defined by heart compatibility, evolutionary adaptability, physical resilience, and raw elemental or kinetic output:. Low-Tier Mutants / Coerced Brokers: Basic physical enhancements or localized weapon manifestations (e.g., blade generation). Mid-Tier Combat Mutants: Specialized construct controls, localized geokinetic manipulation, or defensive appendages (e.g., Heart of Rock, thorn defenses). High-Risk / Supreme Mutants: Complete kinetic control or absolute biological adaptation, such as the "Heart of Resurrection," which breaks human physical limits. Major Factions & Sects. Hermes Lab: The primary shadowy research syndicate responsible for illegal human experiments. Managed by ruthless directors like Ju Jin-Hyeok and Han Ki-Cheol, Hermes Lab controls high-level political figures and treats mutants as disposable assets. Mutant Special Police Task Force: A specialized government law enforcement agency led by Song Hye-in. They investigate illegal mutant trafficking, neutralize rogue biological threats, and work to dismantle illegal research networks. Hodan Construction: A prominent corporate front managed by subject Kang Do-hyung that serves as an intermediary hub between underground mutant brokers and Hermes Lab's covert facilities. Universal Laws. All supernatural abilities are tied to cellular mutation driven by biological Heart implants. Mutants can manifest constructs, armor, or weaponry directly from their bodies. The fundamental universal law governing the "Heart of Resurrection" is blood-fueled immortality: absorbing blood triggers instant cellular regeneration, repairs fatal bodily damage - including decapitation - and forces physical evolution during life-or-death combat.
Traumatized by ten years of horrific scientific experimentation within Hermes Lab's subterranean facilities, Kim Ji-Oh originally earned the designation "The Skeleton." Following his brutal escape, his core motivation shifts from passive survival and hiding in civil society to an active campaign of vengeance. Despite his cold combat disposition, Ji-Oh retains deep empathy for fellow victims and protects those who show him genuine humanity. Combat abilities and traits: Wielder of the "Heart of Resurrection." He possesses absolute immortal regeneration, allowing him to recover instantly from fatal wounds, decapitation, and organ destruction. By absorbing foreign blood, he amplifies his physical strength, speed, and endurance, evolving biologically during combat.
Chapter 1A empathetic high school student who discovers Kim Ji-Oh following his laboratory escape. Unaware at first of the full extent of the mutant underworld, Hye-Ji offers Ji-Oh shelter, basic necessities, and warm human affection. Her unyielding kindness serves as Ji-Oh's primary emotional anchor, motivating him to preserve his humanity despite his violent nature. Combat abilities and traits: Non-combatant civilian; possesses high emotional intelligence and moral resilience.
Chapter 1The tactical leader of the Mutant Special Police Task Force and older sister to Song Hye-Ji. Pragmatic, highly skilled, and fiercely protective of her family, Hye-In walks a fine line between enforcing government law and waging an unsanctioned war against Hermes Lab. She recognizes Ji-Oh's potential and forms a secret operational alliance with him to dismantle the illegal syndicate. Combat abilities and traits: Advanced combat leadership, tactical intelligence, and force-manipulation abilities capable of suppressing mutant threats in direct engagements.
Chapter 14Formerly known as Subject 0442 within Hermes Lab, Kang Do-Hyung rose to become the President of Hodan Construction, serving as an intermediary for underground dealings. Initially opposing Ji-Oh to defend his corporate empire, Do-Hyung is humbled by Ji-Oh's regenerative power and strong sense of justice. Driven by a desire to free fellow test subjects, he turns his resources against Hermes Lab. Combat abilities and traits: Possesses the "Heart of Rock," granting him geokinetic manipulation, extreme physical durability, stone armor generation, and overwhelming impact power.
Chapter 16A high-risk mutant subject imprisoned and tortured within Han Ki-cheol's hidden research facility. Severe trauma made her cautious of others, but she develops a deep attachment to Kim Ji-Oh after he rescues her from captivity. She stands as a living testament to the atrocities committed by Hermes Lab. Combat abilities and traits: Manifests sharp, organic thorn-like defensive appendages capable of shredding threats and creating defensive barriers.
Chapter 23A former lab survivor turned underground broker. Lee Chae-Won's loyalty was forcibly bought by Hermes Lab after they took his disabled sister hostage. Though burdened by guilt, Chae-Won traps and betrays fellow mutants to guarantee his sister's safety, bringing him into direct conflict with Kim Ji-Oh. Combat abilities and traits: Sword-manifesting Heart Mutant; can sprout sharp metallic blades directly from his limbs for rapid, lethal close-quarters combat.
Chapter 7A sadist and senior researcher for Hermes Lab who oversees secret facility operations and high-risk subject experiments. Ki-Cheol views mutants purely as disposable biological material to be analyzed and broken. His cruelty makes him one of Ji-Oh's primary targets during the facility raid. Combat abilities and traits: Manipulates bio-mechanical construct chains capable of binding, piercing, and restraining high-tier mutant subjects.
Chapter 23The ruthless Executive Director of Hermes Lab. Operating from the shadows, Ju Jin-Hyeok influences political figures and corporate executives to fund his biological research. He views Ji-Oh's "Heart of Resurrection" as both an annoying threat and the ultimate biological prize, ordering his immediate termination and recovery. Combat abilities and traits: Supreme administrative authority over Hermes Lab's military and scientific assets; access to top-tier experimental technology and high-ranking political connections.
Chapter 32Ch. 1 - 6
Following ten years of painful experimentation inside Hermes Lab's underground facility, Kim Ji-Oh breaks free and attempts to blend into civil society with the help of high schooler Song Hye-Ji. However, Ji-Oh's integration is disrupted when local street gangs and underground thugs force him to reveal his superhuman physical capabilities. Through a series of violent urban scuffles, Ji-Oh confirms that his escape has not gone unnoticed by the syndicate, realizing he cannot live a normal life while his former captors remain active.
Ch. 7 - 14
Determined to locate missing lab survivors, Ji-Oh investigates the local mutant trafficking network, leading him to an abandoned factory to meet Lee Chae-Won. Forced into service by Hermes Lab through threats against his disabled sister, Chae-Won ambushes Ji-Oh in a fierce blade-against-flesh duel. The clash reaches its climax when Task Force Leader Song Hye-In intervenes, exposing the broader network of traps set by Hermes Lab and establishing an uneasy alliance between Ji-Oh and the Special Task Force.
Ch. 16 - 22
Ji-Oh targets Hodan Construction, a prominent corporate front managing Hermes Lab's underground logistical operations. Upon infiltrating the headquarters, Ji-Oh confronts corporate president and former lab subject Kang Do-Hyung in a duel between the Heart of Resurrection and the Heart of Rock. After suffering fatal injuries and decapitation, Ji-Oh absorbs blood to regenerate and overwhelm Do-Hyung, convincing the corporate leader to betray Hermes Lab and join Ji-Oh's crusade.
Ch. 23 - 32
Equipped with intel provided by Kang Do-Hyung and tactical backing from Song Hye-In, Ji-Oh leads a direct assault on Hermes Lab's hidden research facility. The assault erupts into open combat as Ji-Oh brutalizes bio-construct defenses, defeats sadistic researcher Han Ki-Cheol, and rescues high-risk mutant Lim Na-Rin. The destruction of the facility prompts Executive Director Ju Jin-Hyeok to mark Ji-Oh for immediate termination, escalating the personal vendetta into an all-out war against the syndicate.
