Executioner is a dark, intense superhero manhwa that deconstructs the traditional hero genre through its morally complex protagonist Seo Gangyu. Once a celebrated top-tier hero, Gangyu is shattered by his brother's brutal murder and abandons all pretense of heroic idealism. He infiltrates Ruculus Prison under a false identity, driven purely by vengeance. The world operates on a volatile dynamic between normal humans and superpowered beings, with the Hero Association suffering from internal corruption and bureaucratic paralysis while the radical Alpha World faction led by the spatial manipulator Sinka seeks to eradicate ordinary humanity entirely. The escalation from prison infiltration to global war is rapid and brutal. When Sinka orchestrates a catastrophic breakout, the crumbling government creates the Legal Executioner system granting select agents extrajudicial authority to terminate targets on sight. The series is distinguished by its unflinching portrayal of vengeance, the moral decay of institutions, and the terrifying question of what happens when the most dangerous hero decides the law no longer applies to him.
